Funny , I have noticed the similarity , especially the early CCs , with that guitar intro ; but I think you are right , it is sort of a mirror refection version/tribute .
A few years earlier you had that that Lennon>Dylan thing going with "Hide your Love Away" (sort of like "I Don't Believe You", ) , And Dylan's 4th Time Around", being his version of "Norwegian Wood" . George has said his "If I Needed Someone" is the Byrd's "Bells of Rhymney" .Etc.
Also as a footnote, the best known version of "Revolution" , is the single version, that was the flip side of "Hey Jude" ... Sold a few , they did ! Everyone needs to hear the mono version of this , much better than the stereo , it will kick your teeth out !
I always thought the Dead's version was more like the 'White Album' version,"Revolution 1". I actually think it was the most successful of the Dead Beatle covers , wish they would have did it more often ; maybe couple it with "Deal", or ... "Cosmic Charlie ".
